Retirement and Vacation Homes

COLORINES CAMPESTRE II

Welcome to "Colorines Campestre II" - the newest concept in Mexican retirement!
It is NOT a Time-Share.
It is an affordable opportunity to own your own home in a community in southern Mexico.

If you are thinking about a retirement or vacation home in Mexico but have decided you can't afford it, think again. We have a small group of homes in a cul de sac with a gate at its entrance and those houses are priced well below the current average price for second homes.

"Colorines" is situated within Santa. Martha Apasco Etla, a village of 600 people, just 25 minutes from the state capitol of Oaxaca de Juarez. Many describe Oaxaca's weather as spring-like all year round but its most delightful feature for us is that no matter how hot it gets during the day, it always cools off at night. We do not need air conditioning in our houses! Saves money and is healthier too.

Santa Martha is outside the city and so avoids all of the urban problems of pollution, noise, and crime but it is still close enough to the city for those who want the conveniences an urban center offers. There are ultramodern movie theaters, an American-style shopping center, internet cafes, and world-class dining. Of course, if the indigenous experience you are after, the possibilities are virtually endless with local arts and crafts, archaeological sites, and local markets and restaurants everywhere.

"Colorines" combines all of the modern amenities with the ageless charm of old Mexico. It is close to picturesque hills with countless hiking opportunities. Close to "Colorines" are the remains of a protected archaeological site (an ancient village of 100 people or so that existed between 2850 and 3150 years ago) and an abandoned church that is now used as a cemetery. The church and the archaeological site are just two of the many locales that offer unique opportunities for the painter and the photographer.

The rural setting guarantees peace and quiet along with many opportunities to become involved in the community. The people are friendly and helpful and most importantly welcoming.

Colorines is presently being surveyed and the street, sewers, water and electricity will be installed to each lot line within the next few months.

At present, "Colorines" is in the design stage with the possibility of a maximum of 11 houses along the street. We have sketched in 6 lots on the air photo below so you can see the basic layout. The lots to the south are being sold to locals but thte 6 illustrated below are available for expats, retirees of those looking for a vacation home.

The western boundary of the development (to the left on the airphoto) faces out onto an agricultural field that the owner still plows using oxen. Further west is the old road to Mexico City - used in the previous century when the speediest mode of transportation was on horseback and even the fastest could not make the trip in less than 5 days.

This little development has enormous potential and could prove to be your perfect home away from home away from the crowds, the pollution and the frantic pace of American and Canadian cities. To find out more, return to the top of the page and navigate through the pages listed under Colorines. We are sure you will see how well Colorines fits the lifestyle you want to adopt.
